About The Artist

Barb Jakle Herring is an award winning photographer specializing in Black & White Fine Art Photography. Beginning her professional photography career in 1979, she has owned and operated Through the Looking Glass Photography in the Omaha metro area since 1990.

Barb’s photography is characterized by a strong sense of place. An illustrative use of landscape infuses her portraits with a sense of timelessness. She has a special affinity for working in natural environments whether indoors or out. Beaches, farms, historic districts and homes, public and private gardens, cemeteries, train stations and museums – all have served as backgrounds for Barb's work.

In the studio’s camera room, Barb’s portraiture is simple and classic showcasing relationships and personal interaction.

With an emphasis on relationship, high school senior and children's portraiture, Barb captures the spirit of daily life. A certain sensitivity and serenity is found through out all of Barb's work showcasing the simple beauty that is everyday life.
